In North America and Europe, CHEP's preferred means for submitting export files is via FTP (rather than emailing).
The first step is to request a Logon ID and Password from CHEP. Then to set up an FTP connection as a folder on your computer, follow the procedure below. This applies to Windows XP machines.
- Open My Computer.
- In the 'common tasks' pane on the left, select My Network Places. If the 'common tasks' pane is not visible, from the menu select Tools – Folder Options, then on the General tab select Show common tasks in folders.
- Now in the 'common tasks' pane, select Add a network place.
- In the Add Network Place Wizard, click Next to skip the introduction page.
- In the Service providers box, select Choose another network location and click Next.
- In the Internet or network address box, enter ftp://ftpedi.chep.com and click Next.
- On the next page, untick Log on anonymously, and in the User name box enter your Logon ID provided by CHEP. Click Next.
- On the next page enter a suitable name for your folder, e.g. CHEP ftp. Click Next.
- Click Finish to close the wizard.
The ftp folder will now permanently appear in Windows Explorer under My Network Places. When requested to enter a password use the one provided by CHEP.
Export from 2ic Pallets as per normal, saving the file to a folder on your computer. Do not generate an email if it asks you (switch this off in the Export Data Customise form, CHEP tab). Then open Windows Explorer and copy the exported file into the FTP folder.
